How Astrology Ties into Activism

The astrology of 2020 has been — for lack of a better word — quite intense. With conjunctions, eclipses, and retrogrades galore, it’s no wonder we’re feeling shaken up by all the changes and great uncertainty that goes along with it.

We’ve been hit with a global pandemic that has caused us to reassess how we approach healthcare, the workplace, and each other. We’ve also been forced to reckon with the treatment of Black people, sparking protests and a heightened awareness of our nation’s history that is reminiscent of the civil rights movement.

This is no longer a time to stay within our comfort zones. This astrology makes sure of that.

On August 15th, Uranus went into retrograde and will remain there until the first day of 2021.

What does this mean? Uranus can be equated with revolution. Technology. Science. As one of the outer planets, it also focuses on the collective. And with its home sign in Aquarius, Uranus invites us to think outside the box. Innovate while dealing with the discomfort of being pushed to our edges.

How can we work together to adapt and adjust to these waves of change so that we come out on the other side, stronger and more united than ever before?

Self-care has become such a loaded word these days, especially during quarantine. I might even go as far as saying it is now teetering on the edge of sounding a bit salesy.

Feeling stressed out about being in lockdown?! Just do some SELF-CARE!!

But what does that really mean? What if my version of self-care is drastically different from yours?

Personally, I’m looking forward to getting a pedicure as soon as it’s safe and possible, but someone else may cringe at the thought of having a person handle their feet. As a performer, karaoke night would totally help me unwind, but for someone else, the thought of singing in front of strangers is absolutely terrifying.

These different expressions of self-care are uniquely yours. They are what make you, you. And especially during times of stress, exhaustion, boredom, and/or uncertainty — which is only a mere sampling of the MANY emotions you may be going through right now — knowing exactly what makes you feel safe and cared for can be used today and well into the future. Even after this period of quarantine.
